Select Extra Cross™ Style Ball Point Refills

This pen is turned wider than the standard Slimline Pen. The upper barrel is longer and it does not have a separate center band which gives this pen a unique look and feel. You will love the way this pen feels in your hand as you are writing. It takes a standard cross style refill. The refill in this pen is a "Private Reserve" .  You must choose either black or blue ink.

The wood this pen is made from came from a feld tree limb on a friends property in North Mississippi. I milled the wood and air dried it and I guarantee that it is stable.

The wood is turned on a lathe, sanded and finished with four coats of polish, all by hand. This creates a beautiful shine that brings out the natural beauty of the wood.

It is a water proof, high gloss finish that is non-toxic and non-flammable after drying. Over time, the oils from your hand will enhance the finish and the wood may darken.

No duplicating equipment is used in my work, therefore, even with like woods, no two Pens will be identical. This Pen is truly one of a kind.

EASTERN (AROMATIC) RED CEDAR:

Juniperus virginiana (Eastern Red Cedar, Red Cedar, Eastern Juniper, Red Juniper, Pencil Cedar) is a species of juniper native to eastern North America from southeastern Canada to the Gulf of Mexico and east of the Great Plains.

The fine-grained, soft brittle pinkish-to brownish-red heartwood is fragrant, very light and very durable, even in contact with soil. Because of it’s rot resistance, the wood is used for fence posts. The aromatic wood is avoided by moths, so it is in demand as lining for clothes chests and closets. If correctly prepared, it makes excellent English longbows, flatbows, and Native American sinew-backed bows. The wood is marketed as “Eastern Red Cedar” or “Aromatic Cedar”. The best portions of the heartwood are one of the few woods good for making pencils, but the supply had diminished sufficiently by the 1940s that it was largely replaced by Incense Cedar.

Native American Tribes used Juniper wood poles to mark out agreed tribal hunting territories. French traders named Baton Rouge, LA (meaning “Red Stick”) from the reddish color of these poles.
